Removing Acne Scars | Acne Scar Laser Treatment Or Acne Scar Dermabrasion?
Servere forms of acne will have nodules that are likely to leave a permanent scar. If you have permanent scarring your doctor or dermatologist may prescribe a course of acne scar laser treatment or acne scar dermabrasion.
Acne scar laser treatment resurfacing can either be carried out at your doctor or dermatologist’s clinic. This form of treatment use a laser to remove the damaged top layer of skin and then tightens the middle layer which leaves the skin smoother. The doctor will first numb your skin with a local anesthetic to lessen any pain and treatment will take anywhere from a few minutes up to an hour to complete. It normally takes between 3 to 10 days for the skin to heal completely after treatment.
Acne scar dermabrasion treatment uses a rotating wire brush or spinning diamond instrument that wears down the surface of skin were the scarring has occured. A new smoother layer of skin replaces the abraded one when the skin heals. This method takes longer for your skin to heal afte and can take from 10 days to 3 weeks for it to heal completely.
Another option that may be prescribed by doctors or dermatologists and can be done right away in their offices to help improve the appearance of any acne scar that you have is mild chemical peel or microdermabrasion. (depending on the severity of your scars). Also surgery may be suggested where the scars are deeply indented.
Both acne scar laser treatment and acne scar dermabrasion treatment can only be given to a person when the acne is no longer active. After treatment there will be a redness of the skin that may last for several months.
