It is a difficult task finding the Best Over The Counter Acne Wash and requires some  testing of various products because a lot will depend what skin type you have (dry skin or oily skin) and you may also exhibit a reaction to some products.  Always give any acne wash you use  adequate time to work on your acne,  switching from product to product every week will not produce successful results.  Although good over the counter acne washes are relatively harmless, if you do have an adverse reaction to any product stop using it immediately.

What Acne Washes are available?

Acne washes are soaps, gels or cleansers and based on one or more three substances, these are: sulfur, benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic acid.

Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide suppresses the bacteria that causes acne and reduce the amount of comedones (pimples) and blocked pores. On its own, it does not provide long term treatment for acne as it does not help with shedding of dead skin or reduce sebum production. Soaps are the most basic of the Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Washes others are cleanser and gels and are normally proprietary brands.

Salicylic acid

Salicylic acid is the most widely used substance, along with benzoyl peroxide, acne wash products. Its benefit over benzoyl peroxide because it has an acid base it causes dead skin cells to shed more easily stopping the clogging of pores that can occur with a build up of dead skin cells. It does not kill all bacteria but breaks down white heads and blackheads. Continual use is needed as once use of salicylic acid has stopped, the pore clogging will begin again. Dryness of the skin is common but use of a gentle moisturizer will aleviate this.

Sulfur

Sulfur is a natural antiseptic agent and helps to dissolve and remove blackheads; soften the hard shell of acne blackheads; wash away excess oils; and freshen skin by its thorough cleansing action. As an acne wash it is in a soap form.

Using Acne Washes

Gently clean twice daily using a soap, cleanser or gel, this will help to control your acne. Do not be tempted to scrub with rough sponges or harsh exfoliates, these will irritate the skin and stimulate the sebaceous glands and will cause more sebum to be produced resulting in more acne lesions.

Keep to a strict ritual and give it time do not be temped to change products to quickly and you may find the Best Over The Counter Acne Wash That Works for you with a reduction in your acne and a clearer fresher skin.

Baby Quasar Blue Light Therapy Lamp is at the upper end of the price scale for home use hand held blue light therapy lamps, but as you know you pay for quality and this lamp is a quality device.  The baby quasar is manufactured in the USA and uses aircraft quality aluminum for its housing and NASA grade electrical components for the electrical and electronic circuits.  The Quasar Light Therapy is FDA registered and has been FDA accepted.

Baby Quasar Blue Light Therapy Lamp Features

Physically it is a nice device and easy to control, it combines a slim handle around 7 inches in length with the led blueBaby Quasar Blue Light Therapy Lamp light unit on the end.  This allows you to easily direct the light beam to the problem acne affected areas.  It incorporates a high/low frequency modulator in the handle and can be operated in continuous or high – low mode.  To help in timing your treatment a buzzer incorporated in the lamp sounds every 4 minutes when being used in continuous mode ans when used in high – low mode it sounds every 2 minutes to help in timing your treatment.  As with all blue light therapy, the blue light emitted from Baby Quasar targets and kills the acne-causing bacteria treating inflammatory acne that has not responded to other therapies.

What do users have to say about the Baby Quasar Blue Light Therapy Lamp:

5.0 out of 5 stars I was a skeptic, now I am a convert

I was highly skeptical of this product when I purchased it but I was so tired of having acne in my 30s despite trying everything (topical prescription creams, facials, dermatologist visits, expensive fancy creams) and spending LOTS of money in the process so I broke down and got this. I purchased this product and have used it for a week (4 times this week) on my problem areas and my acne is completely resolved. Sure, I have the spots left where blemishes used to be but the blemishes themselves are gone……

Conclusion on the Baby Quasar Blue Light Therapy Lamp.  This lamp is a quality product that should stand the test of time, it good to look at and nice to handle.  The price is at the top of the range for acne lamps but the quality components used to manufacture it justify the cost, it is not a device that has been put together with cheap components that can be sourced anywhere.   It has 24 violet/blue 3mm leds, not as many as some of the other lamps on the market but as it can be directed directly to the area needing attention it makes up for the lesser quantity of leds.

Are you looking to get rid of your acne and finally have clear skin that you are not conscious of or embarrassed by?  You have probably tried a multitude of creams lotions and home remedies and still found that you are troubled with acne.  It is not a problem with you that these treatments do not work, you have done everything you can.  The problem is, to get rid of acne the bacteria that is causing the problem it needs to be killed and most creams and lotions just ease the inflammation and clean the pores but do not kill the acne bacteria.  Light therapy may be the answer to your problem as it actually kills the bacteria that causes acne – but, there are two types, Blue Light Therapy and Red Light Therapy, which do i need? you ask.  We will take a look at the two types of light therapy for acne so that you can see which will work for you:

The difference between blue light therapy and red light therapy for acne:

    Blue Light Therapy

These devices produce UV Light at peak wavelength 415nm out of the UV range.  The blue light in this wavelength has been proved to have no damaging effects on the skin but research has shown that by localizing it on acne affected skin, the blue light targets to kill propionibacterium acnes the bacteria associated with acne.  Numerous studies have shown this to work and the treatment is FDA approved for mild to moderate acne.  It is also pain free and easy – only requires around 15 minutes of treatment per day.

    Red Light Therapy

These devices produce UV light at peak wavelength 660nm out of UV range.  Red light in this UV range has been found to increases the collagen which fills in the fine lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet, but, an added benefit to this is that it also heals acne scars, redness and blemishes.  Red light therapy is totally safe and non-invasive, it just triggers the bodies natural resources to heal itself.

Now you can finally get rid of you acne, pimples and spots.  If you just have mild acne you will probably only need a blue light therapy device.  If you are suffering from acne scarring or blemishes you will need a red light therapy device also, or, you can purchase a combined blue/red light therapy device.

Tanda Zap is clinically proven to clear or fade blemishes within 24 hours.  It uses a three treatment approach to get rid of acne blemishes and pimples:

It first produces powerful ultra-violet blue light to kill acne-causing bacteria and then uses gentle vibration and warming that helps to open the pores giving the light access to all the acne bacteria.

The device uses 3 AAA batteries and comes with 3 in the pack.  Although the manufactures say that 1000 uses will only cost 5 cents per treatment but, from reading customer reviews it seems the only bad thing they have to say about the Tanda Zap is that it quickly drains batteries, so it would be advisable to use rechargeable batteries.

The benefits of using the Tanda Zap are:

    • no pain
    • no dryness
    • no irritation
    • immediately starts clearing blemishes and pimples
    • kills acne-causing bacteria
    • effective on all skin types and tones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a quick affordable solution that actually delivers, April 19, 2011

    ByAnita
This review is from: Tanda Zap (Misc.)
I suffer from mild acne breakouts and have been using various solutions in the market from proactive to zeno and others. I have seen some results with previous products but was looking for a fast, safe and natural way to get rid of acne blemishes fast…I have only used this system for about 2 weeks but I have to say I am very impressed with the results. The tanda zap is very easy and pleasant to use, small so I can carry it around with me and best of all I can easily see how my zits are fading so much faster. The zit still needs about a full day to clear but that beats the 3-4 days I had to wait before. Highly recommended.

    Pros: Lightweight; Fast; Soothes Skin
I’ve been using the ZAP about a week now. On zits that are already there, the device works well. I found though that if I use the ZAP when I just start to feel something under the skin, it works to keep it from coming up. Definitely a great product.

If you have spent years combating acne, the last thing you want is to be left with unsightly acne scars that permanently mar the appearance of your skin. Acne scars can range from deep, “ice pick” fissures to side-by-side boxcar scars to a rolling, dimpled appearance. Fortunately, in most cases, you do not have to live with unattractive scarring forever. Read on to find out about the best treatment for acne scars, and you will be on your way to enjoying smooth, even skin.

    Acne Scars Causes And Treatments

    Why does acne cause scarring?

Certain types of acne, such as blackheads and whiteheads, only affect the outer layers of the skin and do not typically lead to scarring. However, severe acne that penetrates far below the surface of the skin can cause the dermal tissue inside the follicle to collapse, resulting in scarring. Popping or squeezing zits can exacerbate this problem.

What are the usual techniques for acne scars removal?

In some cases, your dermatologist may recommend topical creams to reduce the appearance of acne scars. For more severe scarring, there are several medical procedures that are commonly employed:

    * Chemical peels – strong acids are applied to the face in order to remove the outer layer of the skin.
    * Laser resurfacing – surgical lasers are used to even the skin’s surface and reduce the appearance of scarring.
    * Microdermabrasion – a small machine is used to “sand” away the outer layer of skin cells and even out the texture of the skin.

Do home remedies for scar removal really work?

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of home remedies that are touted for their ability to heal acne scars. Some of these may be more or less effective for tightening the pores temporarily and reducing the look of scarring; however, in most cases, there is no evidence to suggest that they lead to lasting improvement. As difficult as it can be to deal with the redness, swelling, and pimples that come with acne, it can be even more difficult to deal with the scars they leave behind. Pimples go away with time, but scars can be permanent. If you don’t do anything to remove acne scars, you may have them for the rest of your life.

So, what can you do to remove acne scars? Well, there are four main treatment methods available. All of them need to be performed by a professional such as a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. None of them are all that pleasant, so the best thing to do is learn as much as you can about each of them and then decide (with your doctor) which one is right for you.

Four Best Ways To Remove Acne Scars:

Here is a brief overview of each of the procedures.

    Dermabrasion and Dermaplaning

Both of these methods involve scraping off the top layer of skin. The purpose of this is to allow new healthy skin to replace the scarred skin that was removed. In dermabrasion, the skin is removed with a swirling wire brush. With dermaplaning, a motorized blade called a dermatome is used to skim off the top layer of skin.

Both of these procedures are usually done with the use of local anesthesia and a sedative to control the pain. They can also be done under general anesthesia. Another alternative is to use a numbing spray along with the local anesthesia.

Since the top layer of skin is removed in these procedures, the skin will be raw afterwards. For the first few days, the skin will ooze a clear liquid. Once the oozing stops, a crust will form over the skin. After about a week, and possibly for a few weeks afterward, the skin will appear red, shinny, and smooth.

    Chemabrasion

This procedure is much like dermabrasion except it is done with chemicals instead of scraping. The top layer of skin is removed by applying chemicals that cause the skin to peel away. For this reason, chemabrasion is also called a chemical peel. Two of the chemicals that may be used are trichloroacetic acid and glycolic acid.

After the procedure, you can expect the skin to be red and swollen. After the skin heals, the procedure may be repeated if necessary. The depth of the scars will determine if multiple treatments are necessary and really deep scars may not be able to be removed completely, though their appearance will be improved.

    Laser Resurfacing

This is essentially a more precise way of accomplishing the same thing as the two previous procedures. As with the others, the top layer of skin is removed so that new skin can replace it. The difference with this method is that a laser is used and it can be very precisely controlled. This allows the doctor to only treat the exact areas that need treatment.

Since this method is so much more precise than dermabrasion and chemabrasion, it is now the preferred method of the three. However, even with the precision of the laser, the skin will still be red and tender after the procedure.

    Collagen Injections and Gelatin Implants

These two procedures are completely different than ones discussed above. These procedures are performed by using a needle to inject collagen or gelatin under the scars. The goal in this method is to raise the scared skin. Acne scars leave depressed areas in the skin. When collagen or gelatin are inserted under the scars, it raises the skin in that area up to the level of the surrounding skin making the whole surface of the skin look smooth again.

It is possible for some people to experience an allergic reaction or side effects to the collagen or gelatin. This usually manifests as redness, itching, or swelling. In addition to these side effects, it is also possible for hard bumps to form under the skin where gelatin implants are inserted. Read more
